Polymarket proxy wallet address (also called "funder")

This is the on-chain address Polymarket uses to hold your USDC and sign orders against. It's a smart contract Polymarket deploys for you — different from your MetaMask address. It must come from your Polymarket profile URL, NOT from the Deposit screen.

Recommended method (always correct)

Log into polymarket.com in your browser with MetaMask.
Click your avatar in the top-right corner to open your profile.
The URL becomes polymarket.com/profile/0x….
Copy the full 0x… (40 hex characters) from the URL. Paste that here.

⚠ Why not the Deposit screen? For accounts created before Polymarket's proxy migration, the "Deposit → Transfer Crypto" screen can show a legacy Gnosis-Safe address that still holds USDC but is not the one Polymarket's order-signing system links to your wallet. Using the deposit-screen address produces "invalid signature" errors on every order even though balance reads work. The profile URL is the authoritative source.

Verification: after you finish setup, hit /trading/diagnose (browser DevTools console). The response should show signer_is_proxy: false and both signer_address + proxy_address matching what Polymarket shows you in the UI.

Signer private key

The private key of the wallet you use to log into Polymarket. This is what signs your orders. ShadowBook encrypts it at rest (Fernet / AES-128) and only decrypts it in-memory to sign each trade. It's never logged, never sent off-server, and never displayed back to you.

MetaMask (most common)

Open MetaMask → click the three-dot menu next to your account name.
Choose Account details.
Click Show private key, enter your MetaMask password.
Copy the hex string (starts with 0x or just 64 hex characters).

Polymarket email / magic-link wallet

Open Polymarket → Settings → Wallet.
Look for Export private key (may require email confirmation).

⚠ Never share your private key with anyone outside this setup form — not support agents, not Discord mods, not via email or chat. Anyone with this key has full control of your wallet.

⚠ ONE-TIME ON-CHAIN SETUP — MANDATORY FOR FIRST TRADE

Before any ShadowBook trade can succeed, you must place ONE trade on polymarket.com directly. This is a one-time thing that sets the on-chain USDC allowance for Polymarket's CLOB Exchange contract. Without it, every order fails with not enough balance / allowance even though you have USDC and your keys are correct.

Go to polymarket.com with MetaMask connected.
Pick any market and place the smallest possible trade — $1 is enough.
MetaMask will pop up two signature requests back-to-back:
- First: approve the CLOB Exchange contract to spend USDC
- Second: the actual trade order
Sign both.
That's it. All future ShadowBook trades (Manual Ape, Auto Ape) will work automatically.

Why this is necessary: Your Polymarket proxy wallet holds your USDC, but Polymarket's exchange contract needs permission to move that USDC when you place a trade. Polymarket's own UI sets this permission automatically on your first trade. Direct-API trades (like ShadowBook's) rely on you having done that one manual step first.

What's "CLOB API key / secret / passphrase"?

These are three strings Polymarket's order book uses to authenticate your trades. You don't need to generate them manually — when you click Connect to Polymarket, we use your private key to request them from Polymarket (via EIP-712 signature) and store them encrypted. The "Advanced" path lets you paste them yourself if you've already generated them at polymarket.com/settings → API Keys.
